Important Events:
- Book 1, Pg 89 - ...but "Brown, Lavendar" became the first new
Gryffindor and the table on the far left exploded with cheers; Harry could see
Ron's twin brothers catcalling.
- Book 1, Pg 127 - Harry and Ron overheard Parvati Patil telling her
friend Lavendar that Hermione was crying in the girl's toilets and wanted to be
left alone.
- Book 2, Pg 113 - Lavendar Brown's head came up off her arms (as
Hermione asks about the Chamber in History of Magic)
- Book 2, Pg 143 - Lavendar gives Lockhart his wand back after he is
disarmed by Snape at the Duelling Club.
- Book 3, Pg 80 - "I wonder, dear," said Trelawny to Lavendar Brown, who
was nearest and shrank back in her chair, "if you could pass me the largest silver
teapot?" Lavendar, looking relieved, stood up, took an enormous teapot from the
shelf and put it down on the table in front of Prof Trelawny. "Thank you, my dear.
Incidentally, that thing you are dreading - it will happen on Friday the 16th of
October." Lavendar trembled.
- Book 3, Pg 82-84 - Trelawny says she saw the Grim... Lavendar Brown
looked puzzled... Trelawny explains... Lavendar Brown clapped her hands to her
mouth, too.
In Transfiguration... Lavendar whispered, "But what about Neville's cup?"
- Book 3, Pg 87-88 - "Ooooh!" squealed Lavendar Brown, pointing towards the
opposite side of the paddock (at the Hippogriffs)...
Harry goes first to meet the Hippogriff...
Both Lavendar and Parvati whispered, "Oooh no, Harry, remember your tea leaves!"
- Book 3, Pg 105 - (The legless spider) rolled over and over; Lavendar
Brown squealed and ran out of its way...
"I wonder why Professor Lupin's frightened of crystal balls?" said Lavender
thoughtfully.
- Book 3, Pg 107 - Parvati Patil and Lavender Brown had taken to haunting
Prof Trelawny's tower room at lunchtimes, and always returning with annoyingly
superior looks on their faces, as though they knew things the others didn't. They
had also started using hushed voices whenever they spoke to Harry, as though he
was on his deathbed.
- Book 3, Pg 111 - Lavender Brown seemed to be crying, Parvati had her
arm around her, and was explaining something to Seamus Finnegan and Dean Thomas,
who were looking very serious.
"What's the matter, Lavender?" asked Hermione anxiously.
"She got a letter from home this morning," Parvati whispered. "It's her rabbit,
Binky. He's been killed by a fox."
"Oh," said Hermione. "I'm sorry Lavender."
"I should have known!" said Lavender tragically. "You know what day it is?... The
16th of October! 'That thing you were dreading, it will happen on the 16th of
October!' Remember? She was right, she was right!"
The whole class was gathered around Lavender now. Seamus shook his head seriously.
Hermione hesitated; then she said, "You - you were dreading Binky being killed by
a fox?"
"Well, not necessarily by a fox," said Lavender, looking up at Hermione with
streaming eyes, "bit I was obviously dreading him dying, wasn't I?"
"Oh," said Hermione... "Was Binky an old rabbit?"
"N-no!" sobbed Lavender. "H-he was only a baby!"
Parvati tightened her arm around Lavender's shoulders.
"But then, why would you dread him dying?" said Hermione.
Parvati glared at her.
"Well, look at it logically," said Hermione. "I mean, Binky didn't even die today,
did he, Lavender just got the news today -" Lavender wailed loudly "- and she
can't have been dreading it, because it's come as a real shock -"
- Book 3, Pgs 218-220 - Prof Trelawny made her usual dramatic entrance...
Parvati and Lavender quivered with excitement, their faces lit by the milky glow
of their crystal ball.
Parvati and Lavender were looking scandalised (at Ron disrupting the class).
Hermione poo-poo's Prof Trelawny... Parvati whispered something to Lavender, and
they both glared at Hermione, too.
...Hermione walks out...
"Oooo!" said Lavender suddenly, making everyone start. "Oooo, Professor Trelawny,
I've just remembered! You saw her leaving, didn't you? Didn't you, Professor?
'Around Easter, one of our number will leave us forever!' You said it ages ago,
Professor!"
Lavender and Parvati looked deeply impressed, and moved over so that Prof Trelawny
could join their table instead.
