Mother is a witch, father is a Muggle.
Important Events:
- Book 1, Pg 90 - "Finnegan, Seamus," the sandy-haired boy next to Harry
in the line, sat on the stool for almost a whole minute before the hat declared
him a Gryffindor.
- Book 1, Pg 92-93 - ...sandy-haired Seamus Finnegan interrupted.
"Nearly Headless? How can you be nearly headless?"
"How did he (Bloody Baron) get covered in blood?" asked Seamus with great interest.
"I'm half and half," said Seamus. "Me dad's a Muggle. Mam didn't tell him she was
a witch 'til after they were married. Bit of a nasty shock for him."
- Book 1, Pg 100 - when Seamus Finnegan asked eagerly to hear how Quirrel
had fought off the zombie, Quirrel went pink and started talking about the weather
- Book 1, Pg 103 - A few people laughed; Harry caught Seamus's eye and Seamus winked.
Neville had somehow managed to melt Seamus's cauldron into a twisted blob and their
potion was seeping across the stone floor, burning holes in people's shoes...
"Take him (Neville) up to the hospital wing," Snape spat at Seamus.
- Book 1, Pg 107 - ...the way Seamus Finnegan told it, he'd spent most of
his childhood zooming around the countryside on his broomstick.
- Book 1, Pg 126 - Harry's partner was Seamus Finnegan (which was a relief
as Neville had been trying to catch his eye).
Harry and Seamus swished and flicked, but the feather they were supposed to be
sending skywards just lay on the desktop. Seamus got so impatient that he prodded
it with his wand and set fire to it - Harry had to put it out with his hat.
- Book 1, Pg 135-136 - "Harry, you need your strength," said Seamus
Finnegan. "Seekers are always the ones who get nobbled by the other team."
"Thanks, Seamus," said Harry, watching Seamus pile ketchup on his sausages.
Ron and Hermione joined Neville, Seamus and Dean the West Ham fan up in the top
row. As a surprise for Harry they had painted a large banner on one of the sheets
Scabbers had ruined. It said Potter for President...
- Book 1, Pg 139 - "Did something happen to it (Harry's broom) when Flint
blocked him? Seamus whispered.
- Book 1, Pg 147 - Harry played with chessmen Seamus Finnegan had lent
him and they didn't trust him at all.
- Book 2, Pg 67 - The other boys comment on Ron and Harry arriving at
school in a flying car... "Unbelievable!" beamed Seamus.
- Book 2, Pg 78-79 - Seamus Finnegan and Dean Thomas, who were sitting in
front (of Lockhart's first class), were shaking with silent laughter (at Lockhart).
Dean and Seamus had stopped laughing now... Lockhart unveils the Cornish pixies...
Seamus Finnegan couldn't control himself. He let out a snort of laughter which even
Lockhart couldn't mistake for a scream of terror. "Yes," he smiled at Seamus.
"Well, they're not - they're not very - dangerous, are they?" Seamus choked.
- Book 2, Pg 115 - "But, sir," said Seamus Finnegan, "if the Chamber can
only be opened by Slytherin's true heir, no one else would be able to find
it, would they?"
- Book 2, Pg 141 - Seamus Finnegan and Dean Thomas beckoned them over (to
the notice-board), looking excited. "They're starting a dueling club!" said
Seamus. "First meeting tonight! I wouldn't mind duelling lessons, they might come
in handy one of these days..."
- Book 2, Pg 143 - Duelling Club: "Weasley, you can partner Finnegan..." said Snape
After the first duel: Ron was holding up an ashen-faced Seamus, apologising for
whatever his broken wand had done.
- Book 2, Pg 188 - Harry's stuff has been trashed...
As (Harry) and Neville pulled the blankets back onto his bed, Ron, Dean and Seamus
came in.
- Book 2, Pg 198 - Malfoy suggests Snape could be the new Headmaster...
Snape smirked... fortunately not spotting Seamus Finnegan, who has pretending to
vomit into his cauldron.
- Book 2, Pg 210 - "Exams?" howled Seamus Finnegan. "We're still
getting exams?"
- Book 3, Pg 46 - Harry met Seamus Finnegan and Dean Thomas... in Quality
Quidditch Supplies, where they, too, were ogling the Firebolt.
- Book 3, Pg 83 - Seamus Finnegan was tilting his head from side to side.
"It looks like a Grim if you do this," he said, with his eyes almost shut, "but it
looks more like a donkey from here," he said, leaning to the left.
- Book 3, Pg 96 - "Hey, Harry," said Seamus Finnegan, leaning over to
borrow Harry's brass scales, "have you heard? Daily Prophet this morning - they
reckon Sirius Black's been spotted."
"Where?" said Harry and Ron quickly.
"Not too far from here," said Seamus, who looked excited. "It was a Muggle who saw
him. 'Course, she didn't really understand. The Mugles think he's just an ordinary
criminal, don't they? So she phoned the telephone hotline. By the time the
Ministry of Magic got there, he was gone."
- Book 3, Pg 101 - Lupin says there's a Boggart in the closet.
...Seamus Finnegan eyed the now rattling doorknob apprehensively.
- Book 3, Pgs 104-105 - Seamus darted past Parvati. Crack! Where the
mummy had been was a woman with floor-length black hair and a skeletal,
green-tinged face - a banshee. She opened her mouth wide, and an unearthly sound
filled the room, a long, wailing shriek which made the hair on Harry's head stand
on end - "Riddikulus!" shouted Seamus. The banshee made a rasping noise and
clutched her throat; her voice was gone...
"Did you see me take on that banshee?" shouted Seamus.
- Book 3, Pg 111 - Lavender Brown seemed to be crying, Parvati had her
arm around her, and was explaining something to Seamus Finnegan and Dean Thomas,
who were looking very serious...
The whole class was gathered around Lavender now. Seamus shook his head seriously.
Hermione hesitated; then she said, "You - you were dreading Binky being killed by
a fox?"
- Book 3, Pg 125 - "He's (Sir Cadogan) barking mad," said Seamus Finnegan
angrily to Percy. "Can't we get anyone else?"
- Book 3, Pg 194 - "Good on you, Harry!" roared Seamus Finnegan (when
Gryffindor beat Ravenclaw).
- Book 3, Pg 196 - Ron screams and wakes them all up...
(Harry) could hear movement around him, and Seamus Finnegan's voice from the other
side of the room. "What's going on?"
- Book 3, Pg 221 - "Call this a holiday!" Seamus Finnegan roared at the
common room one afternoon (during the Easter holidays). "The exams are ages away,
what're they playing at (giving them so much homework)?"
- Book 3, Pg 313 - The whole of Harry's Defence Against the Dark Arts
class were miserable about (Lupin's) resignation. "Wonder what they'll give us
next year?" said Seamus Finnegan gloomily.
