Summary: Chocolate Frog Card Ron didn't have in his first year. Lived in Alexandria, Egypt from approx. 87 -150 AD. Astronomer, mathematician and geographer. Codified the Greek geocentric view of the universe, and rationalized the apparent motions of the planets as they were known in his time - called the Ptolemaic system - wherein the planets and sun orbited the Earth in the order Mercury, Venus, Sun, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn. This was accepted as the definitive view of the universe until the work of Copernicus in the 1500s. Graphed the first map of the world as a sphere, which was used up until Columbus' travels, as well.
