Summary: Chocolate Frog Card Ron didn't have in his first year. Lived in
Alexandria, Egypt from approx. 87 -150 AD. Astronomer, mathematician and
geographer. Codified the Greek geocentric view of the universe, and rationalized
the apparent motions of the planets as they were known in his time - called the
Ptolemaic system - wherein the planets and sun orbited the Earth in the order
Mercury, Venus, Sun, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn. This was accepted as the definitive
view of the universe until the work of Copernicus in the 1500s. Graphed the first
map of the world as a sphere, which was used up until Columbus' travels, as well.
