had tied in a ponytail. He was wearing an earring with what looked like a fang
dangling from it. His clothes would not have looked out of place at a rock
concert, except that Harry recognised his boots to be made, not of leather, but of
dragon's hide.
Relatives/Friends: brother to Ron, Fred, George, Ginny, Percy and Charlie.
Important Events:
- Book 1, Ch6 - Ron: (about Hogwarts) "Bill and Charlie have already
left - Bill was Head Boy (...) I've got Bill's old robes."
- Book 2, Ch3 - All three of Mrs. Weasley's sons were taller than she was, but they cowered as her rage broke over them.
"Beds empty! No note! Car gone - could have crashed - out of my mind with worry - did you care? - never,
as long as I've lived - you wait until your father gets home,, we never had trouble like this from Bill or Charlie or Percy -"
- Book 2, Ch4 - "Ordinary Wizarding Levels," George explained, seeing Harry's puzzled look. "Bill got twelve, too. If we're
not careful, we'll have another Head Boy in the family. I don't think I could stand the shame." Bill was the oldest Weasley brother.
He and the next brother, Charlie, had already left Hogwarts. Harry had never met either of them, but knew that Charlie was in Romania
studying dragons and Bill in Egypt working for the wizard's bank, Gringotts.
- Book 2, Ch9 - "You know, it rings a sort of bell," said Ron slowly. "I think someone told me a story about a secret chamber
at Hogwarts once ... might've been Bill . . . ."
- Book 2, Ch12 - Fred, George, and Ginny had chosen to stay at school (over Xmas) rather than visit Bill in Egypt with Mr.
and Mrs. Weasley.
- Book 2, Ch17 - "I'm going to be expelled!" Ginny wept as Harry helped her awkwardly to her feet. "I've looked forward
to coming to Hogwarts ever since B-Bill came and n-now I'll have to leave and -- w-what'll Mum and Dad say?"
- Book 3, Ch1 - Mrs Weasley: (to the Daily prophet) "We will be spending
the gold on a summer holiday in Egypt, where our eldest son, Bill works as a curse
breaker for Gringotts Wizarding Bank."
Ron: (about visiting Bill in Egypt) "Bill's taken us round all the tombs and you
wouldn't believe the curses those old Egyptian wizards put on them."
- Book 4, Ch5 - (With the Dursleys) Bill got to his feet, smiling, and
also shook Harry's hand. Bill came as something of a surprise. Harry knew that he
worked for the wizarding bank, Gringotts, that he had been a Head Boy of Hogwarts,
and had always imagined Bill to be an older version of Percy (...) However, Bill
was - there was no other word for it - cool. He was tall, with long hair that he
had tied in a ponytail. He was wearing an earring with what looked like a fang
dangling from it. His clothes would not have looked out of place at a rock
concert, except that Harry recognised his boots to be made, not of leather, but of
dragon's hide.
- Ron: "Let's go and help Bill and Charlie."
A very loud crashing noise was coming from the other side of the house. The source
of the commotion was revealed as they entered the garden and sawthat Bill and
Charlie both had their wands out, and were making two battered old tables fly high
above the lawn, smashing into each other, each attempting to knock the others out
of the air. (...) Bill's table caught Charlie's with a huge bang, and knocked one
of it's legs off. (...) (Percy complains about the noise)
'Sorry, Perce,' said Bill, grinning. 'How're the cauldron bottoms coming on?'
'Very badly,' said Percy peevishly. (...) Bill and Charlie directed the tables
safelt onto the grass, end to end, and with a flick of his wand, Bill reattached
his leg, and conjured tablecloths from nowhere.
- In the middle of the table, Mrs Weasley was arguing with Bill about is
earring, which seemed to be a resent acquisition.
'...with a horrible, great fang on it, really, Bill, what do they say at the bank?'
'Mum, no one at the bankgives a damn about how i dress as long as I bring home
plenty of treasure.' said bill patiently.
'And you hair's getting silly, dear,' said Mrs Weasley, fingering her wand lovingly.
'I wish you'd let me give it a trim...'
'I like it,' said Ginny, who were sitting beside Bill. 'Your'e so old fashioned,
Mum. Anyway, it's not nearly as long as Professor Dumbledore's.
- Book 4, Ch 16 - (Hagrid) had tried to force his hair into a ponytail
like Bill's.
- Book 4, Ch 31 - 'Then (Harry) saw Mrs Weasley and Bill standing in
front of the fireplace, beaming at him. (...) 'You all right?' said Bill, grinning
at Harry and shaking his hand. 'Charlie wanted to come, but he couldn't get time
off. He said you were incredible against the horntail.'
Fleur Delacour (...) was eyeing Bill with great interest over her mother's
shoulder. Harry could tell she had no objection whatsoever to long hair or
earrings with fangs on them.
'It's great being back here.' Said Bill, looking around the chamber. (...) haven't
seen this place for five years. Is that picture of the mad knight still around?
Sir Cadogan?'
'Oh yeah, said Harry' (...)
'And the Fat lady?' said Bill.
'She was here in my time,' said Mrs Weasley. 'She gave me such a telling-off one
night when I got back to the dormitory at four o'clock in the morning-'
'What were you doing out of your dormitory at four in the morning?' said Bill,
suveying Mrs Weasley with amazement. (Mrs Weasley talks about an evening stroll
with Arthur)
'Fancy giving us a tour, Harry?' said Bill.
Harry had a very enjoyable morning walking over the sunnt frounds with Bill and
Mrs Weasley. (Talks about Percy and Crouch's dissapearance before eating the whole
family together in the Great Hall.)
- Book 4, Ch 36 - (In the hospital wing) When Dumbledore pushed open the
door, Harry saw Mrs Weasley, Bill, Ron and Hermione grouped around a
harssed-looking Madam Pomfrey. (Bill stays in the Hospital Wing, his name is
mentioned a few times)
(Dumbledore wishes to contact Mr Weasley about Voldemort coming back). 'I'll go to
Dad,' said Bill, standing up. 'I'll go now.' (Dumbledore mentions the importance
of discretion) 'Leave it to me,' said Bill
