MUSE: SAASHA BURNS

This month’s MUSE is the gorgeous, smiling, expecting mama Saasha Burns, whose style I’ve admired from afar for years. She takes our Resort ‘22 pieces for a spin in Bali and wears everything so beautifully. She’s a true style inspiration but not only that… She has a beautiful demeanor and happiness about her.

To you, MARYSIA is...

An endless summer.

What are 5 essentials that you take on every vacation?

A few pairs of swimwear, a sarong, clean + non-toxic sunscreen, resort dresses + a good pair of slides.

Any tips for travelling with children?

Bring a few of their favourite toys — for Atlas this is a soccer ball + his favourite teddies, and some snacks that they love. Get outdoors as much as possible and stay curious — it’s all a new adventure.

Tell us about your trip to Bali! Favorite spots, restaurants, places to stay, things to do...

STAY
In an oceanview studio at Desa Potato Head — a creative village by the ocean where music, art, design, food and wellness come together.

EAT
DO
Stay poolside as much as possible + go for morning walks after brekkie along Seminyak beach. Visit The Other Project for beautiful slow made ceramics, and Yoli + Otis for sustainable womenswear, childrenswear and homewares. If you have time, take a trip to Ubud to see the rice paddies — the natural landscape is so stunning. Lounge on one of the daybeds at The Beachclub and watch the sunset each night over the ocean.

How do you decide on your next destination?

We love chasing the sun — we recently traveled back to LA and Palm Springs and we were so excited when Bali opened up again for Australians. The island has such an incredible energy and all the people are so welcoming. Perfect destination for families.

What is the one thing you never travel without?

Our film camera.

Best piece of advice for working moms?

Each day, if possible, try and take some alone time for yourself to help reset. Small moments uninterrupted, such as a shower or bath, a short drive or a walk out in nature, really help me to find clarity and energy.

Do you have any tips for keeping a healthy balance between your work and personal life?

Create space to be present in the moment with family — without laptops or iPhones.

What is inspiring your style right now?

Travel, culture, tropical climates, dressing for the growing bump, the colours of nature.

The one piece of advice you’ll pass along to your kids:

Everything you can imagine is real.
